Ember Academy

Ember Academy functions as a school that provides high-quality education and care to a unique population of students who are often underserved. Ember Academy utilizes the strongest evidence-based practices to support these children in achieving academic, social, emotional, and physical success. Ember serves the student as a whole; bridging the gap between functional academics in the classroom to maximizing applicable living skills as they pertain to their role as a member of their community. Ember Academy strives to raise awareness of those who are neurodivergent and share knowledge of various methods that are used in best practices to promote a well-centered approach to learning.

Aims and Objectives

Student-Centered: Our first focus is solely focused on whole-centered student advancement. We work with students to identify strengths and weaknesses and tone into both to create a style of learning that places emphasis on the student's emotional awareness and executive functioning.
Personalized Learning: Our second aim focuses on learning through experiential and functional learning. Students at Ember are required to take classes that include: Health, wellness, nutrition, cooking, cleanliness, arts, vocational training, and social/emotional awareness. In addition to these mandatory focuses of study, students at Ember Academy will have their own Personalized Education Plan (PEP) that will be specific to their educational needs in order to gain a full accredited Diploma upon graduation or at the time of their exit.
Community Growth: Our model is rooted in the importance of community. Experiential learning, professional development, and social development are the main focus inside and outside of the classroom while they have assistance to learn the skills so desperately needed to be an active member of society after their school years.

Collaborative Services: Lastly, Ember prides itself on being able to collaborate with other services like speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and applied behavior analysis. The collaboration of a multifaceted service approach best serves the students as a whole.

Tuition Assistance Program

Ember Academy wishes to be recognized as a place that considers all students teachable. In hopes of reaching those who need the services most, we follow all guidelines and requirements of Florida's school choice programs, including the Family Empowerment Scholarship (formerly the Gardiner Scholarship). Ember Academy disseminates desires to reach and allow meaningful learning and connectiveness to all the families we serve. We have created a comprehensive tuition package with acknowledgment that families suffer from hardship. With this, we have generated an internal tuition assistance program that is designed to help families on a sliding scale if scholarships do not cover the full cost of tuition.

Eligibility requirements:

• Must reside in Brevard County, Florida

• Have a child currently enrolled in Ember Academy

• Complete the internal aide application for Ember Academy board members to review and assess student needs
